Bean And Cheese Tacos

Food is good.  Some is good for your body, some is good for your taste buds.  Food is cyclical and time sensitive.  People have food memories.  People go into food comas.  Food is good, but that's not what today is about.  Today, we are going to talk about a specific food.  This is a food that has been with me for years.  I, of course, am talking about bean and cheese tacos.

I used to eat bean and cheese burritos all of the time!  When I was in late high school to early college, I discovered El Monterey (frozen) bean and cheese burritos.  With a star rating of 4.5 out of 5 on Walmart.com and a modest price tag of $3.42 for a bag of 8, El Monterey frozen bean and cheese burritos are a great option when you are poor or frugal.  That breaks down to less than $.50 a burrito and two should fill you up.  Show me somewhere else where you can wait 2 minutes (cooking time) and get a filling snack for less than $1!!!  Go ahead, show me!!!

Well, since this is a blog about tacos, we will move on.  Not only are bean and cheese burritos cheap when you buy them frozen, as burrito or taco, they are typically the least expensive item on the menu in any Mexican food restaurant.  At Taco Cabana, you can purchase a bean and cheese taco for $1.08 a piece.  $1.08 for a hot taco on delicious, handmade tortillas is a great deal and you can get it through a drive through...fast.  For the same price, you can get a bean and cheese "party" burrito at Taco Bueno (which is basically just a bean and cheese taco) and they even put a little chili sauce in it.  The tortilla at Taco Bueno is lacking, but that chili sauce makes up for it.  It's easy to see why bean and cheese burritos/tacos are very cost-effective.

"What's Good, Scott?" is no stranger to meal planning and fitness.  We would be remiss to not speak about the nutritional benefits of our featured food product.  In fitness, you want to get lots of protein.  So much so, that people buy giant powder kegs of it.  It's no secret that beans contain protein and cheese contains protein, too.  Bean and cheese tacos are like protein injections, containing about 11g of protein in each taco.  For reference, that is the same as a half cup of tofu and I think we all know what that means... it means that you would not have to eat half a cup of tofu.  With bean and cheese tacos, the life benefits are endless!  Sure, there is lots of sodium and 14 grams of fat, but you will easily burn that off with all of the sick leg lifts you do at the gym.  When faced with all of this protein, one can conclude that bean and cheese tacos, at least, have health benefits and, at most, are straight up fuel for your pump.

There are many other things that you could consume.  You could eat fecal matter and that would taste terrible.  You could buy a $35,000 "Chocolate Pudding" from Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel in England, but then you would have much less money.  You could go hunt white truffles in the wild for days and maybe find a tiny one, but then you would have spent a lot of time looking for something that grows in the ground with only 2.6 g of protein per cup.  That's not enough protein for your extreme pump.  Or might I suggest, and this is to conclude this post; bean and cheese tacos are great-tasting, cheap, available, and reasonably nutritious.  You could eat them.  "What's Good, Scott?"  Bean and cheese tacos are good.
